Degradation of Greece has been happening for 2,000 years. Mazi Farm's vision is to regenerate degraded land in the Mediterranean by creating a pilot agroforestry system that is scalable and replicable. Mazi, which means together in Greek, is a five hectare farm; In 2018 they planted 8,000 trees including fig, pomegranates, pistachios, almonds and many wild trees.
Soil Centric's Pro Tip
Mazi Farm takes volunteers who are willing to stay for at least a month. There are seasonal opportunities for four to five volunteers to join them during the fig harvest during the month of August until early September. You'll learn about harvesting, drying and processing figs in an authentic Greek village. Message them on their Facebook page to find out more.
